“Marketing is really just about sharing your passion.”

This quote by the author Michael Hyatt, really sums up my marketing process.

Like all artforms, marketing starts with questions that need to be answered. There are the usual ones, "Who is my audience?" and "What do we want to say about the company/event/person?" etc. But the very first question I always ask is "What does this mean to me?" I started as an actor, and a common phrase in acting is "raise the stakes." By asking "What does this mean to me?" it forces me to define the stakes of the project. If I find that the certain project doesn't stir much inside me, then I do exactly what actors do, I raise the stakes. Every project announcement, every graphic that goes out, every video I edit, deserves to be paid attention to and given as much care as the last or the next one.

Once those questions are answered -- the real fun can begin.
